Driving tips in Lutsk
The centre of Lutsk is Voli Avenue and the Old Town by Lubart's Castle: the streets are narrow, some are cobbled, and there are always fewer spaces by the castle and on Lesi Ukrainky Street than there are visitors. Outside the centre traffic flows freely and you cross the city in 20 minutes, so it is easier to park a little further out and walk in.
Leaving the city: Kivertsi is 15 km away, Kovel 70 km, Volodymyr 80 km, Shatsk and Svitiaz about 160 km, and the Yahodyn — Dorohusk crossing 110 km. The road to Shatsk is smooth but busy at summer weekends; the final approaches to the lakes and campsites are sand and gravel.

Svitiaz is about 160 km away, and with tents, a kayak or simply a large family transport becomes the main question. The Hyundai Staria takes seven with luggage at $120 a day and the Mercedes-Benz Vito Tourer eight at $110; the child seat is free and so is the second driver.
