Driving tips in Uzhhorod
Uzhhorod is small and flat: it is a 15-minute walk from the castle to the station, and traffic in the centre stays calm all year except April, when the cherry blossom on the Kyivska embankment makes parking vanish as a concept. The old town streets are narrow, so a big SUV gets in the way — inside the city a sedan or a compact crossover is easier.
Leaving the city: Mukachevo with Palanok Castle is 40 km, Berehove with its thermal pools 75 km, Svaliava 55 km, Pylypets about 100 km, Synevyr 120 km and Rakhiv 200 km. Beyond Svaliava the road is mountain hairpins, icy on the passes in winter, so take all-wheel drive for anything towards Pylypets or Synevyr.

Mukachevo with Palanok Castle is 40 km away, the Berehove thermal pools 75 km, Pylypets 100 km and Synevyr about 120 km on mountain roads. A week like that adds up to 600–800 km, comfortably inside the 300 km per day allowance pooled over the rental.
