The 2020 BMW X6 G06 is a 340 hp coupe crossover with xDrive all-wheel drive and the M Sport package. The black car is the coupe alternative to the X5: from 90 $ a day on a long booking.

The X6 is for drivers who want a striking silhouette and crossover dynamics without the tall roof of a full SUV. Its 3.0 engine with 340 hp is the same unit as in the X5 and X7; add xDrive all-wheel drive, an automatic gearbox, five seats and 10.2 l/100 km combined. The cabin has the M Sport package, a panoramic roof, a head-up display, Harman Kardon audio and iDrive multimedia.

The rate is 170 $ per day for 1–3 days, 140 $ for 4–10, 110 $ for 11–25 and 90 $ from 26 days. The deposit is 1 800 $, the same as the X5, though the X5 G05 is cheaper: 130 / 110 / 90 / 80 $ per day.

CASCO and third-party liability insurance, servicing, seasonal tyres and support during the rental are already in the rate. The allowance is 300 km per day pooled over the rental; unlimited mileage in the business class costs 70 $ and each extra kilometre is 0.25 $. Delivery and collection in Kyiv and in Brovary, Irpin, Bucha, Boryspil and Bila Tserkva are free. Drivers must be 20+ with 2+ years of licence, and a manager confirms every booking.

Questions and answers

The X6 costs 170 / 140 / 110 / 90 $ per day across the four tiers and the X5 130 / 110 / 90 / 80 $; both have a 1 800 $ deposit, business class and all-wheel drive. The engine is the same 3.0 with 340 hp. The difference is the body: the X6 has a sloping coupe roofline, the X5 a tall roof that is more practical for tall luggage.

The combined figure is 10.2 l/100 km on petrol. A 3.0 engine with 340 hp at 130 km/h uses noticeably more than the 2.0 in the BMW 3 G20 (about 7.0 l/100 km). Fuel is not included — full-to-full, with refuelling by us at 2 $ per litre.

xDrive all-wheel drive and seasonal tyres are included, so a winter motorway is no problem. Ground clearance on a coupe crossover is lower than on an SUV, though: for deep snow and gravel tracks choose the BMW X5 G05 or the Land Rover Defender 110.
