The 2020 Land Rover Defender 110 is a green premium SUV with a 3.0 diesel producing 300 hp and all-wheel drive. It is the car to take when the route does not end where the tarmac does: mountains, forest tracks, fishing trips and snowy driveways.

The Defender 110 is the only car of its character in the Apex fleet: 300 hp of diesel, automatic gearbox, all-wheel drive, five seats and 9.4 l/100 km combined — the highest figure among the diesels in this set, and the honest price of off-road ability and brick-shaped aerodynamics. The equipment is still premium: 360° cameras, leather upholstery, ventilated seats, a panoramic roof, a head-up display, premium audio and adaptive cruise control.

Rates: 270 $ per day for 1–3 days, 220 $ for 4–10, 180 $ for 11–25 and 140 $ from 26 days, with a 1 500 $ deposit — the same as the Land Rover Discovery. The Defender is usually booked for a few days around a specific trip, so compare: three days cost 810 $, while a week at the 4–10 day rate totals 1 540 $.

CASCO and third-party liability insurance, seasonal tyres, servicing and support during the rental are included. Mileage is 300 km per day pooled over the rental; unlimited mileage in the premium class is 100 $ per rental and every extra kilometre costs 0.5 $. Delivery and collection in Kyiv and in Brovary, Irpin, Bucha, Boryspil and Bila Tserkva are free; another city costs 0.5 $ per km from Kyiv, minimum 50 $. Drivers must be 20+ with 2+ years of licence, and premium cars may carry extra requirements set by the manager.

It is the most off-road capable car we have: all-wheel drive, 300 hp of diesel torque, a tall body and seasonal tyres included. Watch the mileage: Bukovel is about 620 km from Kyiv one way while the allowance is 300 km per day pooled, and unlimited mileage costs 100 $ per rental.

The combined figure is 9.4 l/100 km, the highest of the diesels in this set: a boxy body and an off-road driveline cost more than the Land Rover Discovery's 8.9 l/100 km. Fuel is not included and refuelling by us costs 2 $ per litre.

Five. If you need seven seats with off-road ability, the fleet also has the Land Rover Discovery, Toyota Land Cruiser 200 and 300 and the Mercedes GLS X167. A child seat and a second driver are free.
