How much does it cost to rent a car in Kyiv: prices, fees
The total cost of renting a car in Kyiv is the daily rate for your rental length × the number of days, plus any paid extras (delivery to another city, out-of-hours handover, travel abroad, unlimited mileage). The deposit is paid separately at pick-up and refunded when the car comes back undamaged and without fines. Comprehensive (KASKO) and third-party insurance, servicing, seasonal tyres, 300 km a day and delivery within Kyiv are already included.
A headline like “from 25 $ a day” on any rental site is the lowest rate of the longest tariff. What you really pay depends on how long you keep the car, which model you pick, when you collect it, where you drive and the state you return it in. Here is how Apex Rent Car works it out. What the rental price is made of: five parts
- The rate — a price per day that drops as the rental gets longer: 1–3, 4–10, 11–25 and 26+ days.
- The deposit — refunded in full if the car comes back undamaged and with no fines. You can replace it with the paid “No deposit” option.
- Delivery and timing — free across Kyiv and nearby towns; other cities and handovers outside 10:00–19:00 are charged separately.
- Extras — travel abroad, unlimited mileage, “No deposit”. A second driver and a child seat cost nothing.
- Things that can appear after return — missing fuel, extra kilometres, returning more than an hour late, heavy dirt, traffic fines.
The rate: why a day is cheaper on a weekly rental
The tariff is chosen by the total number of days and applies to the whole rental. Book a car for 5 days and all five are charged at the 4–10 day rate, not the first three at the higher one. These are the daily rates of four popular cars in our fleet:

A tip from our managers: at the edge of a tariff, compare totals, not daily rates. A Camry for 10 days is 10 × 65 $; for 11 days it is 11 × 50 $. On many cars the extra day in the next tariff costs nothing extra or even lowers the total. The same goes for 25 versus 26 days — if your trip runs close to a month, look at monthly car rental. The deposit: how much, how you pay it, when you get it back
The deposit is not a charge; it is security against damage, fines or missing fuel. The amount depends on the car: 400 $ for the Corolla, 700 $ for the Camry, 1000 $ for the BMW 5. You pay it at pick-up by card or in cash, and it comes back once the car is returned undamaged and without fines. The car’s condition is recorded on photo and video at handover, so you never pay for a scratch that was there before you.
If you would rather not tie up the money, there is the “No deposit” option: +35 % on the daily rate (+50 % for the exclusive class), but not less than the class minimum — 15 $ a day in economy, 20 $ in comfort, 25 $ in business. It is available from 3 days for drivers aged 25+ with at least 3 years behind the wheel. With a personal chauffeur there is no deposit at all.
What is already included
- KASKO (comprehensive) and compulsory third-party insurance. Your share of the cost in case of damage depends on the car and the policy terms — ask before you sign.
- Scheduled servicing and seasonal tyres: in the cold season cars go out on winter tyres at no extra cost.
- 300 km a day, pooled over the whole rental.
- Delivery and return at any address in Kyiv (home, hotel, office, Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi railway station) and in Brovary, Irpin, Bucha, Boryspil and Bila Tserkva.
- A second driver on the contract and a child seat.
- Free cancellation up to 24 hours before a Kyiv pick-up.
What you pay for separately
- Handover or return outside working hours (19:00–10:00) — 30 $ per handover. Arriving on a night train? Arrange to collect the car in the morning and you pay nothing extra.
- Delivery to another city — 0.5 $ per km from Kyiv one way, minimum 50 $. Premium and exclusive cars on the 26+ day rate are delivered to other cities free. Details are on payment and delivery.
- Travel abroad — 150 $ per trip of up to 30 days (250 $ for premium and exclusive): Green Card and a notarised power of attorney. It must be agreed in advance; see travel abroad.
- Unlimited mileage — a one-off charge per rental that depends on the class.
- Fuel: return the car with the same level; any shortfall is charged per litre.
Mileage: how not to overpay for kilometres
The 300 km limit is not counted day by day but pooled: 3 days give you 3 × 300 km, and you can drive them all on one day. Every kilometre above the limit is charged at the class rate. In the city that is usually more than enough; for a road trip, do the maths first. Kyiv to Lviv and back is about 1,080 km, so three days of allowance will not cover it, while four days will — and the 4–10 day rate is lower too. Bukovel is over 600 km each way: for a trip shorter than 5 days take unlimited mileage or a longer rental.

A city weekend in a Toyota Corolla
3 days × 45 $. Delivery to your Kyiv address — 0, second driver — 0. Deposit 400 $ at pick-up, refunded on return. Collect the car at 9:00 and add 30 $ for the early handover; at 10:00 there is nothing to add. Your bill is the rate and nothing else.
A week in a Volkswagen Tiguan with a drive to Lviv
7 days × 55 $. The weekly allowance is 7 × 300 km — enough for Kyiv – Lviv – Kyiv plus city driving. Deposit 800 $, or the “No deposit” option at +35 % on the rate. Want to drop the car in Lviv instead of Kyiv? The manager will price a one-way return by distance — available for rentals of 3 days or more, agreed in advance.
A month in a Toyota Camry for work

How to pay and in which currency
Prices on the site are shown in US dollars; you pay in hryvnia at the exchange rate of the payment day. The rental is paid at handover: by Visa or Mastercard from any bank, foreign cards included (terminal or payment link), in cash in hryvnia, or by bank transfer against a contract and an invoice for sole proprietors. A prepayment is usually not needed; for holidays, some cars and long rentals the manager may ask for a small prepayment that counts towards the price.
How to get the exact total before you sign
- Pick a car and dates in the catalogue — the booking form shows the tariff, the total for the period, the deposit and any time or place surcharges straight away.
- Tell us your route if you are leaving Kyiv: the manager will check whether the mileage allowance is enough.
- Every booking is a request: the manager confirms the car and the total before you go anywhere.
- At handover, check the contract total against your request and film the car’s condition together with the manager.
